Week 14: walking the dog and cycling in the mountains

An ordinary first week of April, with most of the photos coming from my morning walks with Mochi and my bike rides.

The early morning walks with Mochi are delightful in many ways. Spending time with our cute dog, and seeing nice beach scenes at sunrise. Mochi likes the beach too:

On the way back from the beach, we often stop at the local bakery for a baguette:

Later that morning, I did my bike ride, and on the way back I came across one of the scenes that are unique to this country, the juxtaposition of modern retail and the traditional ways:

A strange statement on a rubbish bin down the street from my house:

I often see these two women meditating at sunrise. In general, people here use the beach a lot, not just for sunbathing but also for activities like this:

An evening walk, I am being watched:

Staying with the feline theme, a cat colony on a vacant lot near the supermarket where I do most of my grocery shopping. Good people have made a bit of a shelter for them, and bring them food every day:

On Wednesday I did my morning walk earlier than usual, so I was on the beach well before sunrise:

I like the beach because every day the light changes, and the sea also looks different. On Saturday morning the wind was blowing:

On Saturday afternoon the weather was nice and people were heading for the beach, including this young couple on bicycle:

Two different ways to enjoy the seaside:

My favourite way to enjoy the beach is to sit at the 100 Montaditos bar on the promenade and watch the people:

…and the dogs:

I finished the week with a bike ride to Maigmó, a reasonably hard ride of 65 km with significant climbing from sea level to 650 meters. The road is excellent, and I was not the only cyclist out there:

Even the A77 motorway towards Alicante looks nice:
