Week 35: Bath

All the images from this week are from the afternoon and evening of Friday, 1 September, which I spent in the lovely English town of Bath in the company of my son and fellow Leica Users Group member John Beeching. We met up in the centre of Bath, and John showed us around this beautiful place. This is the spot where we started the walking tour:

We continued our walk and spotted this car with an impressive collection of parking tickets:

And a couple saying hello to a kitty. Bath is the kind of town where people will stop to pet a strange cat:

After a couple of hours of walking around, we were thirsty. Fortunately, John led us to a watering hole with a very promising menu:

Inside the pub (a real English free house, not a corporate-type ersatz bar), I spotted this no-smoking sign:

All of a sudden, a pub patron asked us if he could borrow our table for a few minutes, as there was going to be an arm wrestling contest. Always on the alert for photo opportunities, we of course agreed. It turned out that the other guy was getting second thoughts, given the stakes of 20 pounds and his view of relative strengths and degree of drunkenness, but after a few minutes of discussion the two contestants sat down and got ready:

The battle begins in earnest:

The strain is showing:

The decisive moment is near:

The coup de grace is administered:

The proud winner:

And finally, here is John whom I can thank for showing us around beautiful Bath and leading us to this great pub:
