Week 41: AMS dogs

The week begins with a cat and dog theme. My friend Jan lives in Grembergen, near Dendermonde in Belgium. We went to visit her last Saturday. Jan has an extremely aristocratic cat:

The next day we were walking around in Amsterdam, where I spotted these two very different dog/owner pairs:

Then we go back to Belgium for a view of the main street in Grembergen:

When I walk around Amsterdam, I often see tourists looking at maps. Not an uncommon sight in any big city, of course, and Amsterdam lends itself well to getting lost as it has many small streets and alleys. What I found amusing in this scene is the combination of the couple studying the map and the poster behind them; the coordinates on the poster are those of the Rijksmuseum:

I sat down for a cup of coffee and just looked at the human traffic walking by. That is one of my favourite pastimes in Amsterdam. Here are two pairs of legs:

A lonely bench:

A sign of the times, unfortunately:

And finally, autumn is clearly here. We don’t have the kind of fall colours here that draw people to New England, so I contend myself with foliage on a smaller scale:
