The main event happened towards the end of the week. On Saturday, our art club organised a video workshop with about 8 participants, led by Katerina (or Kat), a young cinematographer living in London, who happens to be Eri’s daughter and was happy to visit her mother in Alicante and spend a day taking the group through making a short film, just a couple of minutes, shot entirely with a mobile phone. I was there just to document the proceedings with my (regular) camera.

But first a couple of random images from earlier in the week. On Sunday I cycled to Aigües, as I often do, and some kind of fiesta was under preparation:

One early evening, the sky was particularly beautiful above my neighbour’s house:

Then Saturday arrived and it was time for the video workshop, held in a large apartment in the centre, the home of one of the participants, Christophe, one of the co-founders of our art club. First, Kat discussed ideas for the storyline with the participants:

The “script” is agreed, and some test takes are made, with Christophe as the cameraman and Eri in the main role:

After the trial run, Kat gives some last-minute advice to the crew:

Then the real shoot started. Eri is walking, Christophe is recording her while walking backwards, and Caroline is making sure he does not bump into anything:

Afterwards, Kat took us through the process of editing the little film, which took considerable time, with all manner of trickery being applied:

My last photo of the session had to be a mother-and-daughter portrait:
