Week 20: Mercadillo, the beach, Monica’s birthday, no cycling

I was banned from cycling this week due to a leg problem called Baker’s Cyst, something I had never heard of before, but I could certainly feel it. So my activity was limited to visiting the nearby mercadillo on Sunday, going down to the beach promenade, and celebrating my daughter’s birthday on Saturday night.

Our Sunday open-air market has a small Belgian-style brocante section with used goods ranging from antiques to junk, and one with food. I spend my money in the fruit and vegetables section, but for photos, the non-food section is quite interesting:

On Sunday afternoon, I went down to have a beer on the beach, one of my usual weekend pleasures. I love sitting on the promenade, pint on the table, camera in hand, watching human traffic:

Friday evening means pizza for dinner, and when I walked down to the little roundabout where Tutti Pizza & Pasta is located, I came across a group of skaters who were having some fun:

On Saturday morning I had an errand in the centre of El Campello, and I walked around a bit, taking pictures of building details and wall art and graffiti. Here, a ship mosaic that celebrates the town’s origins as a fishing village:

On Saturday afternoon Monica arrived. It was her 25th birthday, and we were going for dinner at a nearby Japanese restaurant. Before leaving, we sat on the terrace with a beer, and I took advantage of the nice backlight to make a few casual portraits of her, like this one:

The food at Kimoshi was both nice to look at and nice to eat:

And Monica certainly enjoyed it:
