This was the last full week of January. My friend Lars was visiting, and we did some cycling together as always. We also did other things, and I did take pictures of those things, but sadly my backpack containing the camera, the portable hard disk and the Macbook on which those pictures resided was stolen at Lisbon airport on January 30th, so the only pictures I can show for the week ending on the 26th are those which I had imported to my desktop computer at home before leaving on that ill-fated trip.

My favourite photo of the week, a sight we do not see every winter. A rainy couple of days in Alicante meant that above elevations of around 1200-1300 meters it was snowing. I love the sight of the snow-capped mountains above our beach:

At the same time, people were still enjoying the beach:

The rest of the pictures are from my outings with Lars on two wheels. One day we stopped for a look at El Campello harbour:

What looks like a mess of fishing and boating equipment is probably a well-organised storage arrangement:

Denmark is a country without mountains, so the only time Lars gets to do serious climbing is when he visits me. On the other hand, I cycle in this landscape every day. So while he is faster than me on the flats, I am faster when climbing. On one particular ride I went ahead of Lars, stopped at a point a few hundred meters further, and took a series of photos of Lars labouring up the hill:

That afternoon, we rewarded ourselves with a beer and snack at 100 Montaditos on the beach:
