Week 36: back home, mostly beach walks

Back from California, it was a busy week at work. Most people came back from their summer vacations on Monday August 31st, and the level of activity quickly accelerated from the summer hiatus to the busy autumn (even though outside, it is still very much summer). So most of this week’s photos are from the daily morning walks with Mochi.

Sunrise is around 7:30 these days, so Mochi and I often arrive on the beach before the sun appears. The colours are soft, and there are few people at that time. On Tuesday morning there was a lone paddle boarder:

On Thursday morning, there were a few people on the beach, waiting for sunrise:

I also see many people like this woman, just sitting in the sand and looking at the rising sun:

On Friday, Eri and I met for lunch, this time in a small Italian restaurant in the centre. I had never been there but Eri was familiar with it, and it turned out to be wonderful:

Afterwards, Eri walked home (she lives about 1.5-2 km from the restaurant and was teleworking that day) while I walked to the car park and drove back to the office. Before saying goodbye, a quick photo in the street:

On Saturday morning, it was back to the walks. I snapped a quick photo of the morning light shining on a woman opening a café; she looked a bit suspicious:

The Magic Cactus had bloomed while we were in California the previous week (our daughter had sent a photo). By the time we came home on Sunday evening, the flowers had wilted, but now, less than a week later, it was back in business:

One of the “children” of the cactus got into the act too:

I continue to be amazed by the performance of my newly acquired 90mm Viltrox lens. I finish this week’s blog with a portrait of one of my favourite subjects, shot at maximum aperture f2.2:
