Week 27: two art exhibitions

A quiet week after the end of the big fiesta the week before. I attended two exhibition openings by local artists, and of course I continued the daily walks on the beach.

This guy has been sleeping on the beach lounges a few nights. Not sure if he is connected to the place, or a regular homeless, or a penniless tourist:

Another photo session. This seems a thing here this summer:

On Tuesday, we had another exhibition opening in our small exhibition space at the office, paintings with a musical theme by a Dutch artist, Andy Smeets, who lives here in Alicante. First, the president of our art club, Kari, made a few remarks:

Then Andy spoke a bit, while Patricia, Ursula and Tina listened:

Andy not only paints but he also composes and performs music, and we got a short performance, 3 pieces related to his paintings:

Then it was time to have a look at Andy’s works:

One afternoon, I went for an after-work drink with some people from my old department (where I worked until June 2024). Harrie is now a deputy director there, Viktória is a trainee this year:

Alexandra, her talking with Viktória, is also now in a different department. But we remain friends and get together outside the office from time to time:

Friday morning walk. The cat does not like the sight of Mochi:

One day I was in a meeting at the office, and realised that these three ladies from my department–Paola, Carolina and Camelia–seemed to have exchanged notes when getting dressed in the morning. So when the meeting ended, I asked them to pose for me:

I am boycotting the World Cup for political reasons, but I realise that I am in a small minority here in Spain. Many local bars and balconies are decorated with flags:

On Saturday I attended another exhibition opening, this time paintings by a local artist Glenda Grande who is married to a Danish colleague in our office. I have known her for a while, so I was invited to the opening. The venue was a bit atypical, a furniture shop belonging to one of Glenda’s friends, but actually the light was very nice:

Glenda spoke a bit:

And then we drank some white wine and looked at her paintings, all with a Mediterranean theme:

Finally, no week without a photo of Mochi, here on Saturday night at The Place:
