Aside from that, pictorially the week was dominated by weekend activities in the mountains around Alicante. <\/p>\n<p><strong>15_1<\/strong><br \/>\nFrom a bicycle ride at the beginning of the week, a still empty beach south of Alicante. By now, a week later, the beaches are full:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2013\/15_1.jpg\" alt=\"_1000949\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>15_2<\/strong><br \/>\nThe road from Busot to Jijona is popular among people on two wheels, whether motorized or not:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2013\/15_2.jpg\" alt=\"_1000951\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>15_3<\/strong><br \/>\nI am not much of a flower photographer, but since I had stopped to pee anyway, I took the opportunity to snap these wildflowers along the same road:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2013\/15_3.jpg\" alt=\"_1000956\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>15_4<\/strong><br \/>\nThe same poultry that poops in our swimming pool made its away all the way to our bakery:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2013\/15_4.jpg\" alt=\"L1009336\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>15_5<\/strong><br \/>\nOn Monday and Tuesday we hosted an international conference on design. The venue was Alicante&#8217;s new auditorium, a magnificent space, although it must be considered as one of the extravagant projects built during the good times. In any event, now it is here, and we used it for the conference:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2013\/15_5.jpg\" alt=\"DSF1458\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>15_6<\/strong><br \/>\nWe had an interesting and varied lineup of speakers. My favourite was this guy, Quique Dacosta, owner of a restaurant in the north of Alicante province with 3 Michelin stars. He spoke about the design of his dishes, which indeed are a feast for the eye (my wife and I went to his restaurant for our wedding anniversary last year):<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2013\/15_6.jpg\" alt=\"DSF1463\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>15_7<\/strong><br \/>\nAnother favourite of mine gets ready to speak. Jeremy Philips is an intellectual property lawyer in London and the blogmaster of IPKat, the most influential blog within our specialized world:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2013\/15_7.jpg\" alt=\"DSF1469\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>15_8<\/strong><br \/>\nThe auditorium is quite a stunning building:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2013\/15_8.jpg\" alt=\"DSF1459\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>15_9<\/strong><br \/>\nIt is located in a residential neighbourhood:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2013\/15_9.jpg\" alt=\"DSF1471\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>15_10<\/strong><br \/>\nI like the reflections and the view:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2013\/15_10.jpg\" alt=\"DSF1473\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>15_11<\/strong><br \/>\nOn Saturday night, we went to another wine-and-food evening at Finca Otero in Aig\u00c3\u00bces. The place can best be described as a high-end bed &#038; breakfast, or <em>casa rural<\/em> as they called here. In contrast to our first visit back in March, this time it was still light when we arrived, so I was able to snap a few pictures of the magnificent setting:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2013\/15_11.jpg\" alt=\"IGP7278\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>15_12<\/strong><br \/>\nDonkey decoration in the garden:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2013\/15_12.jpg\" alt=\"IGP7279\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>15_13<\/strong><br \/>\nPeter, one of the co-owners and the chef, is working in the kitchen, in this case on the terrace where he is using the grill.
