Some people&#8217;s instinct is to head for the beach when the sun is shining. I prefer to go to the big cities like Utrecht and Amsterdam to watch the human traffic. The women are scantily clad, the couples are amorous, the beer is deliciously cold&#8230;In short, this week I present a bunch of city pictures.<\/p>\n<p>I start with five images of couples seen in Amsterdam this past Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main<\/strong><br \/>\nOn a bench outside the American bookstore:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/23.jpg\" alt=\"1836\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nThe alternates<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 1<\/em><br \/>\nAnother couple, same bench:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/23alt1.jpg\" alt=\"1822\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 2<\/em><br \/>\nLove on the square:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/23alt2.jpg\" alt=\"1837\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 3<\/em><br \/>\nChimping together:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/23alt3.jpg\" alt=\"1819\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 4<\/em><br \/>\nContre-jour couple:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/23alt4.jpg\" alt=\"1842\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The next three pictures are from Utrecht, the preceding weekend. My wife was shopping while I was enjoying a few cold beers at an outdoor cafe and taking pictures. <\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 5<\/em><br \/>\nTraditional Dutch bar food, bitterballen and other deep-fried snacks:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/23alt5.jpg\" alt=\"1686\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 6<\/em><br \/>\nThe two girls in front of me were also having snacks, and their doggie seemed quite interested, but also patient:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/23alt6.jpg\" alt=\"1696\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 7<\/em><br \/>\nAnd the dog&#8217;s patience is rewarded:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/23alt7.jpg\" alt=\"1692\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On Saturday morning, I went to see the Fotofestival Naarden together with fellow photographer Michiel Fokkema.
