Since I had only limited possibilities to take time off, they spent most of the days relaxing by the pool&#8211;just the kind of vacation they wanted. We did get out and about a bit, though.<\/p>\n<p><strong>42_1<\/strong><br \/>\nThe weather was still nice enough to eat outside, and most of the time Cheeta was under the table, just in case:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2012\/42_1.jpg\" alt=\"IGP6549\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>42_2<\/strong><br \/>\nIf no &#8220;accidents&#8221; occur, Cheeta resorts to more overt begging:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2012\/42_2.jpg\" alt=\"IGP6466\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>42_3<\/strong><br \/>\nOne of the traditions when my sister visits is that she makes some of the favourite Polish dishes, starting with <em>pierogi<\/em>, a type of dumplings:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2012\/42_3.jpg\" alt=\"IGP6478\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>42_4<\/strong><br \/>\nThe pierogi are first boiled:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2012\/42_4.jpg\" alt=\"IGP6481\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>42_5<\/strong><br \/>\nThen they are lightly pan-fried and served with fried onion. Heavenly:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2012\/42_5.jpg\" alt=\"IGP6484\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>42_6<\/strong><br \/>\nAnother firm favourite are potato pancakes stuffed with goulash:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2012\/42_6.jpg\" alt=\"IGP6491\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>42_7<\/strong><br \/>\nOn my day off, we went for a drive along my cycling routes. This is El Campello. I like this picture because the two different worlds that co-exist here are in it, the traditional goat and sheep herding, with the beachfront apartment buildings in the background:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2012\/42_7.jpg\" alt=\"_1000292\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>42_8<\/strong><br \/>\nWe drove up to the mountain village of Aig\u00c3\u00bces. Autumn is definitely here:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2012\/42_21.jpg\" alt=\"IGP6529\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>42_22<\/strong><br \/>\nMy sister and brother-in-law were flying back to Poland Sunday morning, so I wanted to make something nice for our Saturday dinner. We went to the Mercado Central to buy tuna steaks and veggies to roast. While waiting our turn, I photographed the fishmonger gutting a fish for a customer:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2012\/42_22.jpg\" alt=\"IGP6542\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>42_23<\/strong><br \/>\nI coated the tuna with a mix of spices according to a recipe I found on some US cooking site:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2012\/42_23.jpg\" alt=\"IGP6555\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>42_24<\/strong><br \/>\nThe steaks were seared and served with roast vegetables:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2012\/42_24.jpg\" alt=\"IGP6557\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>42_25<\/strong><br \/>\nMy wife made flan for dessert, and Cheeta was very interested:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2012\/42_25.jpg\" alt=\"IGP6562\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And thus, on a tasty note, ended our week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My sister and brother-in-law were still with me all last week.
