I was working to tie up loose ends before going to California for a week&#8217;s visit with my son and new grandson (born in May) who will feature heavily in Week 35. So for this week, a quiet blog from my daily life in Alicante.<\/p>\n<p><strong>34_1<\/strong><br \/>\nMochi takes me to the bar during our evening walk:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_1.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0247\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_2<\/strong><br \/>\nBut he is rarely the only dog there:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_2.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0248\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_3<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_3.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0249\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_4<\/strong><br \/>\nAs usual, the morning walks continue to provide me with nice images, especially at this time of the year, when sunrise is around 7:15 which is when I walk Mochi on the beach:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_4.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0253\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_5<\/strong><br \/>\nGoing to try surfing&#8230;:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_5.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0255\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_6<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8230;not particularly successfully:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_6.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0256\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_7<\/strong><br \/>\nAnother way to look at the rising sun:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_7.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0242\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_8<\/strong><br \/>\nBaby on the beach:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_8.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0243\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_9<\/strong><br \/>\nLocal fauna:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_9.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0245\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_10<\/strong><br \/>\nOne of the many cats Mochi and I meet during walks:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_10.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0258\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_11<\/strong><br \/>\nThis cat reminded me of my late, still missed, Taco:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_11.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0261\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_12<\/strong><br \/>\nWhen Mochi started barking at it, the kitty became rather fierce:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_12.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0262\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_13<\/strong><br \/>\nOn Thursday afternoon, we experienced something extremely rare in July and August: rain. It lasted for only 5 minutes or so:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_13.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0264\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_14<\/strong><br \/>\nI was going to meet some colleagues from my previous department for a drink in one of the bars on the waterfront. On the way, I photographed the outdoor hair salon on Plaza Puerta del Mar:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_14.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0265\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_15<\/strong><br \/>\nContemplation:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_15.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0267\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_16<\/strong><br \/>\nThe bar where I met my colleagues was quite striking:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_16.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0271\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_17<\/strong><br \/>\nSt\u00e9phane talking to two of their trainees:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_17.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0273\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_18<\/strong><br \/>\nOne of the trainees in my current department, Sibora (Albanian, but from Italy) is leaving us early. Friday was her last day, so as I usually do with departing trainees, I made a couple of portraits of her, first in my meeting room:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_18.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0275\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_19<\/strong><br \/>\nAnd then at her workstation:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/34_19.jpg\" alt=\"DSF0279\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>34_20<\/strong><br \/>\nOn Friday afternoon, I stopped for a beer at one of my favourite bars on Plaza Luceros. Part of the attraction is to sit outside and observe the passing human traffic.
