But we had a nice BBQ hosted by our friend Eliot, and instead of the World Cup (which I am boycotting), I saw some good-looking people playing beach volleyball.<\/p>\n<p><strong>24_1<\/strong><br \/>\nBeach volleyball is a very popular activity here, and some people start very early in the morning to beat the heat. I often see large groups like this getting together while walking the dog at 7 a.m.:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/24_1.jpg\" alt=\"DSF4568\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>24_2<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/24_2.jpg\" alt=\"DSF4567\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>24_3<\/strong><br \/>\nOn Sunday Eliot and Assumpta invited us for a BBQ. As usual, Eliot grilled copious quantities of meat:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/24_3.jpg\" alt=\"DSF4569\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>24_4<\/strong><br \/>\nBalu was very interested in the proceedings:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/24_4.jpg\" alt=\"DSF4570\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>24_5<\/strong><br \/>\nTrying to hit Hans for a piece of meat:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/24_5.jpg\" alt=\"DSF4582\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>24_6<\/strong><br \/>\nWe were on the outside terrace where Eliot keeps his BBQ. All of a sudden Balu started making the usual circular moves dogs make when they need to poop, and then he made a sizeable deposit right in front of I\u00f1aki:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/24_6.jpg\" alt=\"DSF4579\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>24_7<\/strong><br \/>\nHans and his wife Mar had brought along their adorable little granddaughter:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/24_7.jpg\" alt=\"DSF4583\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>24_8<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/24_8.jpg\" alt=\"DSF4585\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>24_9<\/strong><br \/>\nStaying with the canine theme, a family outing in the local park:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/24_9.jpg\" alt=\"DSF4592\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>24_10<\/strong><br \/>\nMochi&#8217;s frustration over not being able to reach the cats continued:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/24_10.jpg\" alt=\"DSF4597\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>24_11<\/strong><br \/>\nThe morning beach walks usually yield images of people enjoying the beach, each in their own way:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/24_11.jpg\" alt=\"DSF4600\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>24_12<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/24_12.jpg\" alt=\"DSF4606\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>24_13<\/strong><br \/>\nThe highlight of the morning walk for Mochi is when we stop at the bakery to pick up the baguette for breakfast. He always gets a good snack of bread from the bakery owner:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/24_13.jpg\" alt=\"DSF4605\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>24_14<\/strong><br \/>\nOne morning we met this black cat, looking at me with disdain:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/24_14.jpg\" alt=\"DSF4608\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>24_15<\/strong><br \/>\nI approached the cat to get a closer view. Most of the time the cats just run away, but not this one. Instead, he let me know that he did not approve of my presence:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/24_15.jpg\" alt=\"DSF4610\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>24_16<\/strong><br \/>\nA friendly encounter in the park:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/24_16.jpg\" alt=\"DSF4612\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>24_17<\/strong><br \/>\nThese pretty blue flowers are everywhere, but when they fall down, they create a sticky mess on the sidewalk or on the cars parked under the trees:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/24_17.jpg\" alt=\"DSF4615\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>24_18<\/strong><br \/>\nI finish with some more beach volley images, this time from Playa San Juan, a beach where I sometimes stop for a beer on my way home from work.
