A quiet week at home, lots of work, so most of the photos are from the weekends at the beginning and end of the week. There were three events of note: the monthly meeting of our book club, a lunch with a former trainee who was visiting Alicante, and the beginning of the Easter week.<\/p>\n

\nWhile cycling to Aigues, I once again happened upon this very dignified cat whom I had photographed a couple of weeks earlier:

\nOn Thursday evening we had the monthly meeting of our book club WeRead, at the usual bar in the centre:

\nThe book we read was “The Red-Haired Woman” by Orhan Pamuk, a Turkish Nobel Prize winner. The book had been selected by our newest member, G\u00fclgun, a Turkish trainee in our office. Here she explains why she had chosen that book:

\nThis week, our office held a career event for our trainees. Various companies were there to show off their employment opportunities, and former trainees were on hand to talk to the current ones about their post-traineeship careers. One of them was Romy, who was a trainee in my department in 2023-24 and now works in Brussels. She stayed in Alicante for the weekend, and on Saturday we met for lunch in the centre, at a Lebanese restaurant called Mish Mish. On the way from the parking to the restaurant I stopped to take in this amusing sign of multicultural Alicante–an Algerian pizza place:

\nOn Sunday morning I cycled to Agost, as I often do. The town is usually rather sleepy. But not today; it was Palm Sunday, start of the Easter week, and it seemed that the whole town was taking part in the procession:
