And a visit to the mountain village Tibi to buy goat cheese.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7_1<\/strong><br \/>\nWe have had many days with strong wind, and the results are visible around Alicante:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_1.jpg\" alt=\"1050270\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_2<\/strong><br \/>\nAt the same time, spring is clearly on the way, as evidenced by the blooming almond trees:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_2.jpg\" alt=\"1050274\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_3<\/strong><br \/>\nAs always, Mochi features in my weekly blog. Here he is keeping my wife company while she eats lunch:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_3.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3603\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_4<\/strong><br \/>\nAt the end of our morning walks, Mochi and I stop by the bakery to buy bread for breakfast. Since dogs are not supposed to enter shops that sell food, he has to wait outside:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_4.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3611\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_5<\/strong><br \/>\nThe owner of the bakery always comes outside and gives him some fresh bread:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_5.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3612\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_6<\/strong><br \/>\nOn Tuesday, I went for lunch at the beachfront restaurant Moments with some colleagues from my old department. Even though I have been head of a different departent since July 2024, I am still very attached to some of the people in my old department, and so we decided to get together for lunch like in the old days. Justyna is studying the menu seriously with Anne-Sophie looking on:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_6.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3617\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_7<\/strong><br \/>\nNow Justyna is smiling, with her fellow Pole Michal looking on:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_7.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3615\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_8<\/strong><br \/>\nKasia and Carolina. In our group of 6 people, we were 4 Poles, 1 Spaniard and 2 Danes. This is made possible by my dual Polish-Danish nationality:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_8.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3616\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_9<\/strong><br \/>\nArtichokes are in season, and when grilled by Moments, they are totally delicious:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_9.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3620\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_10<\/strong><br \/>\nMy main dish, <em>tartar de at\u00fan<\/em>:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_10.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3621\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_11<\/strong><br \/>\nAnother early morning on the beach, well before sunrise:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_11.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3625\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_12<\/strong><br \/>\nLater in the week, the wind was again very strong. It came from inland, pushing against the waves:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_12.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3632\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_13<\/strong><br \/>\nOn Friday, Eri and I went for lunch at a new place, called Zag\u00e1lico, specialising in Murcian food:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_13.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3627\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_14<\/strong><br \/>\nAs usual, I captured Eri&#8217;s expressions across the table:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_14.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3626\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_15<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_15.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3630\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_16<\/strong><br \/>\nOn Saturday, the wind was still blowing, and blowing too strongly to ride the bike in the mountains. Instead, I took the car and drove to Tibi, the village where I sometimes go to buy locally produced goat cheese. The village is nestled in a valley in the mountains, and the approach road is very steep. I stopped to photograph the view with the 60mm lens:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_16.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3637\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_17<\/strong><br \/>\nThe view from the same spot, with the 90mm lens:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_17.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3636\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_18<\/strong><br \/>\nThe landscape around Tibi, with olive and almond trees:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_18.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3647\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_19<\/strong><br \/>\nI walked around the centre of Tibi a bit. It is a pretty little town, of course with a church as the focal point:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_19.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3649\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_20<\/strong><br \/>\nNext to the church is a chapel, currently under renovation:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_20.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3645\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_21<\/strong><br \/>\nA tree-lined alley connects the cemetery to the church:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_21.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3650\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_22<\/strong><br \/>\nTibi&#8217;s health clinic:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_22.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3654\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_23<\/strong><br \/>\nTibi&#8217;s senior citizen centre (not sure if it is a residence or just an activities centre):<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_23.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3653\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_24<\/strong><br \/>\nTypical narrow street:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_24.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3639\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_25<\/strong><br \/>\nI finally walked to the cheese shop, run by Lili, originally from German-speaking Switzerland, whom I have known for many years:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_25.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3643\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_26<\/strong><br \/>\nI remember first visiting maybe 12-14 years ago, and seeing Lili&#8217;s little girl trying to help out in the shop. Now that little girl is old enough to look after the shop by herself:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_26.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3642\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>7_27<\/strong><br \/>\nOn the way home via Jijona, I stopped once more to photograph the town from the road above, leading to the Puerto de Tibi mountain pass where I had been to see the Vuelta de la Comunidad Valenciana cycling race earlier in the month:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/7_27.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3655\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A quiet week, marked by lunches with friends from my old department, and with Eri.
