The other main event of the week was the passage of the season&#8217;s first pro bicycle race through Alicante. And of course I continued to walk Mochi on the beach as part of my morning routine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6_1<\/strong><br \/>\nAnother nice Sunday sunrise, just like last week:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/6_1.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3521\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6_2<\/strong><br \/>\nSome people just enjoy the beach like this:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/6_2.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3523\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6_3<\/strong><br \/>\nWhile others do in a more energetic manner:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/6_3.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3525\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6_4<\/strong><br \/>\nMochi and I were being watched:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/6_4.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3526\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6_5<\/strong><br \/>\nWe stopped for bread at the bakery and I photographed this family of four. Normally animals are not allowed inside places that sell food, but this is Spain, a country with a pragmatic approach to rules:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/6_5.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3527\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6_6<\/strong><br \/>\nIn the evening, Mochi and I walked to The Place for a beer:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/6_6.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3531\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6_7<\/strong><br \/>\nOn Tuesday, we went for our morning walk a bit earlier than usual, still well before sunrise:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/6_7.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3537\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6_8<\/strong><br \/>\nLooking south towards Playa San Juan:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/6_8.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3534\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6_9<\/strong><br \/>\nLooking north towards El Campello:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/6_9.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3538\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6_10<\/strong><br \/>\nIn the evening, the &#8220;junta directiva&#8221; of the art club WeArt gathered for dinner at Eri&#8217;s place (I am the treasurer of the club):<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/6_10.jpg\" alt=\"dinner_eri_03062026\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6_11<\/strong><br \/>\nCaroline is the founder of the literature club WeRead:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/6_11.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3540\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6_12<\/strong><br \/>\nCaroline and Eri posing for me:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/6_12.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3547\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6_13<\/strong><br \/>\nEri looking at something:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/6_13.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3549\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6_14<\/strong><br \/>\nEri serving us Greek liquor:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/6_14.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3556\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6_15<\/strong><br \/>\nOn Friday afternoon, the first race of the professional cycling season, the Vuelta de la Comunidad Valenciana, passed through Alicante. In fact, it passed by the main road near my office, but that was on a boring flat part where the peleton would be together and flash by in 30 seconds. Instead, I drove to the town of Tibi to watch the cyclists at the end of a long, hard climb. At that point, the riders had 120 km in their legs and the pack had broken up in several small groups. This is the leading group:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/6_15.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3576\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6_16<\/strong><br \/>\nMattia Bals from Malta was one of the escapees:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/6_16.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3577\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6_17<\/strong><br \/>\nAbout 7 minutes later, the stragglers passed my spot:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2026\/6_17.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3597\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>6_18<\/strong><br \/>\nOn my way home, I stopped for a beer at 100 Montaditos.
