Another week mainly about work, cycling and walking on the beach with Mochi. But we also had a nice lunch at a fusion Mediterranean-Scandinavian restaurant, an opening of a photography exhibition at the office, and a meeting of our book club.<\/p>\n

\nOne early morning we saw lightning in the sky above Benidorm in the distance:

\nWhen cycling before work, I rarely stop to take pictures. But one morning the sky was too spectacular to pass up. Note the fishing boat out at sea:

\nAfter we finish the walk, Mochi does several zoomies around the house. Getting a sharp image is almost impossible:

\nOn Sunday, my wife and I went to a nearby restaurant called Borg. It is owned by a man with a Swedish parent, although he only speaks a few words since he has lived in Spain most of his life. However, he likes the cuisine and the restaurant is described as a Mediterranean-Scandinavian fusion. So we went to try it out. The food was nice and photogenic, starting with excellent bread:

\nThen croquettes, a very Spanish thing:

\nBack to the north, with salmon and crispbread:

\nBack in the office, on Thursday we opened another exhibition, this time street photography by Winston van Hughes, a Florida-born photographer who came to Alicante as a small child and has lived here ever since. A small group of us listened to him talking about his work, mainly street photography from Morocco, Turkey and Spain:

\nOn Thursday evening, the WeRead book club held its monthly meeting at a local bar. We have a couple of new members, including Victor, a trainee from Kenya who will be with us for a year:

\nThe book of the month was a novel called “My Sister, the Serial Killer” by Nigerian author Oyinkan Braithwaite, an interesting story taking place in a modern upper-middle class Nigerian environment. As we always do, we took a photo of the book in the different formats and languages that people had selected, this time mostly in the original English, but also in Spanish, Finnish and Danish (on the phone):

\nChristine, one of our members. She retired a couple of years ago, but her life in retirement is more hectic than it ever was at the office. She just came back from 3 months in Zambia where she is involved in a rural development project:

\nThree random images to round out the week. There are many small lizards in our garden. They rarely stay still long enough to be photographed, but this one did:
