Sunday was my last full day in Wroc\u00c5\u201aaw. It was then back to work in Alicante, but in a different way–we were hosting a large meeting of our stakeholders in Alicante, including a dinner Tuesday night. And it also meant coming back to Mochi, still residing with us, and the usual morning walks.<\/p>\n

\nI woke up Sunday morning and as always enjoyed the pre-dawn view of the Reagan Circle:

\nI went for an early morning walk, and was able to take a photo of the Grunwaldzki Bridge from a position that would be impossible at any other time of the week:

\nLater in the morning, we went to see an art exhibit at the Four Domes Pavilion with its striking needle:

\nAfterwards, we drove to the centre and walked a bit. I noted this poster, advertising a demonstration against high housing costs, an issue in the largest Polish cities as it is elsewhere. The slogan on the poster means “micro apartments, maxi rents”:

\nWe sat down for a snack of tartar (raw beef topped with onion and a raw egg) and a beer at a favourite place in Rynek called simply Pijalnia W\u00c3\u00b3dki i Piwa (“the vodka and beer dispensery”):

\nIn late afternoon, I enjoyed the view from my sister’s balcony again, this time focusing on the student residences called Chalk and Pencil:

\nI was flying home to Alicante Monday afternoon. On Monday morning, I took the tram to have a closer look at a striking piece of street art that we had passed a few times. But there is no nearby parking possibility, so I used public transport this time. The sculpture is called “The Monument to the Anonymous Pedestrian”, by Polish artist Jerzy Kalina, unveiled in 2005:

\nBack in Alicante, on Tuesday night I was to participate in the plenary dinner of the Observatory, installed at one of the two VIP tables along our new Polish deputy head of the office Edyta, and a visiting Polish Member of the European Parliament (who came from a party I intensely dislike, but there was no choice but to be polite). I fortified myself beforehand by meeting with a few friends for a pint before dinner. Here are two of my favourite people, Marie Pattullo of the European Brands Association in Brussels, and Piotr Stryszowski from the OECD:
