Two main events this week: the monthly meeting of our book club WeRead, and a visit to a dog pool in La Marina, a small town about 30 km south of Alicante. We took Mochi there, and he had a great time. <\/p>\n

\nI start with a photo from Aigues, my most frequent cycling destination. Someone has left two chairs in front of the church, a curious arrangement. I have no idea why:

\nOn Tuesday evening our book club WeRead held its monthly meeting at our usual place, the caf\u00c3\u00a9 at the Pynchon bookshop. Here is the founder of the club, my Dutch colleague Caroline, with a newish member of the club, Karin (from Germany). In the foreground, the book of the month, “The Proof of my Innocence” by Jonathan Coe:

\nIt is only 7:30 but there are already a few people on the beach, going early to beat the heat. The temperature of the water in our part of the Mediterranean is approaching 30 C:

\nMochi has the habit of running 2-3 times around the house when we return from a walk:

\nOn Sunday we drove to La Marina to visit the dog pool. We had passed it a few times (it is on the way to Hostal Maruja, a beach restaurant we like), but now was the time to take Mochi there:

\nMonica tries to entice Mochi to get in the water. He was a bit reluctant in the beginning:
