All the pictures from this week are from there.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main<\/strong><br \/>\nAutumn in full swing:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44.jpg\" alt=\"L1003333\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nAlternates<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 1<\/em><br \/>\nI went to the cemetery where my father is buried. Across the street I stopped to buy some flowers and ran into the guardian of the flower shop:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt1.jpg\" alt=\"L1003402\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 2<\/em><br \/>\nThis is why I always go to Copenhagen at this time of the year. My father died on 1st November 2004:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt2.jpg\" alt=\"L1003404\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 3<\/em><br \/>\nAfter visiting the cemetery, I took the bus into the centre. On Gammel Strand I saw this carriage. It is one of the royal carriages, they were just out practicing:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt3.jpg\" alt=\"L1003342\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 4<\/em><br \/>\nHolmens Kanal:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt4.jpg\" alt=\"L1003343\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 5<\/em><br \/>\nBridge on Holmens Kanal:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt5.jpg\" alt=\"L1003350\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 6<\/em><br \/>\nRedhead and red leaves:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt6.jpg\" alt=\"L1003357\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 7<\/em><br \/>\nA spot my late mother loved, and one I always walk by&#8211;the underwater sculpture of a fisherman&#8217;s family near Gammel Strand:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt7.jpg\" alt=\"L1003360\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 8<\/em><br \/>\nTwo lost tourists on the main pedestrian street:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt8.jpg\" alt=\"L1003361\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 9<\/em><br \/>\nDenmark is an ecological kind of place, and despite the scarcity of sunshine, all Copenhagen parking meters are powered by solar cells:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt9.jpg\" alt=\"L1003359\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 10<\/em><br \/>\nA bar in Pilestr\u00c3\u0192\u00c2\u00a6de. I was particularly impressed with the Westmalle sign:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt10.jpg\" alt=\"L1003363\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 11<\/em><br \/>\nI came across a wonderful used book shop with sculptures made by the proprietor:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt11.jpg\" alt=\"L1003373\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 12<\/em><br \/>\nAnother scene from the book shop:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt12.jpg\" alt=\"L1003374\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 13<\/em><br \/>\nThe main hall of the University of Copenhagen, founded 500 years ago. Nowadays, most of the university is in the suburbs, but this building is used for graduation ceremonies and the like:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt13.jpg\" alt=\"L1003378\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 14<\/em><br \/>\nIce cream and university:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt14.jpg\" alt=\"L1003384\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 15<\/em><br \/>\nInside the main synagogue of Copenhagen, built in 1833:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt15.jpg\" alt=\"L1003388\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 16<\/em><br \/>\nMarek and Tamara came from Poland in the late 1970s and are today pillars of Copenhagen&#8217;s Jewish cummunity. We spent an afternoon talking and drinking vodka:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt16.jpg\" alt=\"L1003393\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 17<\/em><br \/>\nIn the evening, I found myself on Kongens Nytorv, one of the city&#8217;s main squares:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt17.jpg\" alt=\"L1003399\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 18<\/em><br \/>\nTuesday afternoon I flew home to Alicante, but during the morning I walked around the centre. This is Copenhagen&#8217;s city hall as seen from one of the surrounding, narrow streets:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt18.jpg\" alt=\"L1003423\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 19<\/em><br \/>\nThis is Copenhagen&#8217;s oldest gay bar, already in the Christmas spirit:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt19.jpg\" alt=\"L1003422\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 20<\/em><br \/>\nThe Norwegian tourist board was having an event in front of city hall, promoting the joys of cold and snow:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt20.jpg\" alt=\"L1003425\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 21<\/em><br \/>\nNorwegian version of husky:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2010\/44alt21.jpg\" alt=\"L1003416\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 22<\/em><br \/>\nStrange sign on the square in front of city hall.
