Just a quiet week of work and cycling to start October. I include some photos from the preceding week that I forgot to include in the week 38 blog.<\/p>\n

\nOne day I cycled up to the Carrasqueta mountain pass, 1020 m altitude. As usual, I stopped for a drink and snack at Venta Teresa, 6 km from the pass. There were lots of other cyclists doing the same:

\nMy friend Eri has been a seconded national expert from the Greek IP office for the past 6 years. Normally, she would have to go back to Greece at this point, but she wanted to stay with us in Alicante, and we very much wanted her to stay. This week, she signed her contract to become a permanent employee of our office, and one evening, we got together in her apartment to celebrate:

\nEri lives across the street from Castillo Santa B\u00c3\u00a1rbara, a Moorish castle overlooking Alicante:

\nI stopped for a beer on the beach one afternoon. There was a definite end-of-season feeling, even though it was still nice and warm:

\nAt the weekend, I cycled to Tibi. The climb to get to the village is one of the most brutal stretches of road around here:

\nI made it to Lili’s goat cheese emporium:

\nI went inside to buy some cheese:

\nLili’s daughter, whom I first met as a little girl years ago, is now a teenager minding the shop during the weekend:

\nOn Sunday, we went for lunch at Balu’s house:
