I was busy at work, so the only photos I took were during my bike rides.<\/p>\n<p><strong>29_1<\/strong><br \/>\nThere is one exception. The younger brother of my best friend in Denmark (Lars, who has featured in this blog on many occasions) and his family were visiting Alicante for a few days. They stayed in an AirBnB on the beach a few km from my house, and one day we met up for a chat and some beers. This is Niels and his wife Ninette:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2023\/29_1.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5878\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>29_2<\/strong><br \/>\nAnd now some cycling pictures. Goats are amazing&#8211;hardy animals that can survive in the arid climate we have here. In Busot, I happened onto this group, eating dried shrubs. It is amazing that any animal can survive on such a diet:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2023\/29_2.jpg\" alt=\"1030397\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>29_3<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2023\/29_3.jpg\" alt=\"1030394\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>29_4<\/strong><br \/>\nThis one seemed to be smiling at me:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2023\/29_4.jpg\" alt=\"1030399\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>29_5<\/strong><br \/>\nThe road from Busot to Jijona (a distance of 13 km) is one of my favourite stretches of road around here. Near Jijona a large solar plant has been built. I have photographed it many times, but it is not easy. This image I am reasonably happy with. Some people complain about installations like this one because they spoil the landscape or whatever, but I have no patience for such NIMBYs; I am much more interested in saving the planet with clean energy:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2023\/29_5.jpg\" alt=\"1030405\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>29_6<\/strong><br \/>\nDuring another ride to Jijona, this time along a rather less picturesque road, I stopped to look at the only serious agriculture in the immediate vicinity, a large vegetable farm:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2023\/29_6.jpg\" alt=\"1030409\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>29_7<\/strong><br \/>\nLaying down the protective film:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2023\/29_7.jpg\" alt=\"1030408\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>29_8<\/strong><br \/>\nA chat in the field:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2023\/29_8.jpg\" alt=\"1030406\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>29_9<\/strong><br \/>\nIn Jijona, as everywhere else, the general election held on July 23rd was much in evidence:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2023\/29_9.jpg\" alt=\"1030410\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>29_10<\/strong><br \/>\nAnother ride, this time to a village called Alcoraya. I passed the Madrid motorway on the way. Not much traffic on a Sunday morning:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2023\/29_10.jpg\" alt=\"1030412\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>29_11<\/strong><br \/>\nThere is not much in Alcoraya, except for a small grocery store which was very handy since I was badly in need of refreshment:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2023\/29_11.jpg\" alt=\"1030416\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>29_12<\/strong><br \/>\nI like to look at the modest signs in places like this:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2023\/29_12.jpg\" alt=\"1030415\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>29_13<\/strong><br \/>\nOpening hours:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2023\/29_13.jpg\" alt=\"1030417\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And that was the end of a quiet week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A short blog for this week.
