Much of the country has been hit by snow, ice, freezing temperatures and other wintry nastiness. No snow or freezing in Alicante, but it has been cold and rainy for much of the week. <\/p>\n<p>Since Christmas is approaching, it is also the season for various parties and similar events. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Main<\/strong><br \/>\nThe first image, however, is just from my back porch. I liked the light, colours and shadows provided by the setting sun:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2009\/50.jpg\" alt=\"P1000995\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nAlternates<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 1<\/em><br \/>\nI went cycling that afternoon and did get some wind and rain. But I was also rewarded with this:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2009\/50alt1.jpg\" alt=\"P1000997\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 2<\/em><br \/>\nOn another day, I cycled to an area called Santa Faz, where there is a well-known monastery of the same name. This is the street alongside the convent:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2009\/50alt2.jpg\" alt=\"P1000952\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 3<\/em><br \/>\nThe day was sunny, so laundry was done:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2009\/50alt3.jpg\" alt=\"P1000949\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 4<\/em><br \/>\nGate with hole and chain. Not my usual style to photograph peeling paint, but sometimes I make an exception:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2009\/50alt4.jpg\" alt=\"P1000945\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 5<\/em><br \/>\nHere are two of my Polish colleagues from the office, taken during a BBQ on Sunday afternoon.
