Compared to my usual rides, this is an easy outing, even though it is around 80 km, since it is largely flat. The area south of Alicante is quite agricultural. Around Elche, the pomegranates are ready or almost ready:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2020\/41_1.jpg\" alt=\"1160655\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>41_2<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2020\/41_2.jpg\" alt=\"1160658\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>41_3<\/strong><br \/>\nThe beach in Santa Pola. Clearly, the tourist season is over (such as it was this year):<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2020\/41_3.jpg\" alt=\"1160661\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>41_4<\/strong><br \/>\nA little Messi in the sand:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2020\/41_4.jpg\" alt=\"1160662\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>41_5<\/strong><br \/>\nMy favourite part of the ride, along the coastal road just north of Santa Pola. Rocky beaches, and Alicante in the distance:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2020\/41_5.jpg\" alt=\"1160663\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>41_6<\/strong><br \/>\nDuring the week, I continued to enjoy the sunrises during my rides, with ever-changing light and cloudscapes:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2020\/41_6.jpg\" alt=\"1160668\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>41_7<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2020\/41_7.jpg\" alt=\"1160669\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>41_8<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2020\/41_8.jpg\" alt=\"1160674\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>41_9<\/strong><br \/>\nFriday would have been the start of the annual Moros y Cristianos festival in El Campello. This year, all such fiestas are cancelled. But the banners have still been hung from the tower in the harbour, as they are every year:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2020\/41_9.jpg\" alt=\"1160680\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>41_10<\/strong><br \/>\nSaturday morning over Busot was quite cloudy:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2020\/41_10.jpg\" alt=\"1160685\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>41_11<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2020\/41_11.jpg\" alt=\"1160687\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On Saturday afternoon, we went for lunch at a restaurant in the neighbourhood where we lived until 2018. It is a newly opened place called Ajo Negro (black garlic). We like it very much, it is a cut above the usual lunch menus, but only a few Euro more. The food looks good and is very tasty.<\/p>\n<p><strong>41_12<\/strong><br \/>\nOne of the starters, a croquette with meat inside:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2020\/41_12.jpg\" alt=\"R006162\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>41_13<\/strong><br \/>\nAnother starter (there are four altogether), <em>pulpo a la gallega<\/em> (octopus), presented as a tapa:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2020\/41_13.jpg\" alt=\"R006163\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>41_14<\/strong><br \/>\nMy main dish, <em>codillo<\/em> (pork knuckle with mushroom sauce):<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2020\/41_14.jpg\" alt=\"R006164\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>41_15<\/strong><br \/>\nAnd homemade <em>flan<\/em> for dessert.
