Yet another week of work and cycling. But also some golf, good food, and a visit to the Cuevas de Canelobre, one of our main inland beauty spots in this area.<\/p>\n

\nI start with one of my usual rides, on Sunday morning, to Relleu. This is one of my favourite roads in this area:

\nFrom an altitude of around 500 meters there are great views of the coast and Alicante:

\nSomething ugly seen along the ride; despite the fact that in Spain, you can take any piece of consumer electronics to any shop selling such products for recycling, and despite the sign on the garbage container announcing that pickup of bulky trash is temporarily suspended, some idiot was too lazy to drive to a Media Markt with his old TV:

\nOn Sunday afternoon, my wife played a round of golf, and I was her caddy–and photographer:

\nThe water hazard near hole 9. My wife has sacrificed many golf balls here over the years:

\nWe continued to eat well. I made a vegetarian kofta which turned out delicious, definitely a keeper in my repertoire:

\nSheet-pan gochujang shrimp, tofu and green beans. I love Korean food:

\nHam aisle at the local Carrefour supermarket:

\nDifferent ways to see the morning light, during the same bike ride before work. First, the tower in El Campello before dawn:

\nA bit later, in Aigues, the sun has risen and is illuminating the houses on the Plaza de la Iglesia:

\nAnd a few minutes later, a face on a stone:

\nOne afternoon, we went to the beach. It was windy, so not too many people, but it was warm and pleasant nonetheless. I brought a book, a couple of beers, and my camera:

\nMonica went in. She is a real water person (I prefer beer, applied internally):

\nFriday morning we had a rare spot of rain:

\nOn Saturday morning, I cycled to the Cuevas de Canelobre, a cave complex near Busot, at around 570 meters altitude. What makes this ride challenging is the final 2.5 km climb up to the cave entrance, with an average grade of 10%. But once you get up there, the view is the reward:
