The week started with an event called Alabici<\/em>–a word play on the name of our city in the local valenciano language, Alacant, and the phrase “a la bici”, i.e. “on the bike”. In other words, the city had organized a mass bicycle ride through the centre of town. The route was a leisurely 10 km ride, making it possible for people of all ages and abilities to participate. The weather was not looking promising, but about 10.000 people participated nonetheless.<\/p>\n

The remaining five images are from an exhibition of sculptures by the sculptor Ripoll\u00c3\u0192\u00c2\u00a9s. The are quite striking, and the esplanade along Puerta del Mar provides an ideal setting.<\/p>\n
