This week is a mixed bag of images from Cologne, Amsterdam and the Hilversum area. Friday night we attended a party in Oud-Loosdrecht, a suburb of Hilversum, which is located on the water. I don’t usually do sunsets, but this one was so nice that it became my main picture of the week:

The next picture is another typical Dutch scene, a pastoral landscape near the town of Vianen, south of Utrecht, which I pass every day on my way to work:

Then we move on to Germany. My in-laws from Puerto Rico were visiting, so we of course wanted to show them around. On Sunday we took them for a day trip to Cologne. Here is my mother-in-law at the famous Cologne cathedral. Since she is a practicing Catholic, this was a meaningful visit for her:

Then we went for lunch at a typical German restaurant. While we waited for the food to arrive, my daughter demonstrated to her grandparents the wonders of the mobile internet:

While walking back to the car, we saw this group of friendly buskers (and yes, we contributed):

A couple of nights later we were showing them the red-light district of Amsterdam. A group of people were having a party on a boat:

We then spotted this cool coffeeshop DJ:

The final image is from outside my daughter’s school in Hilversum. My little girl is not so little anymore–she just turned 12 and is growing up rapidly. Last week her grade went to camp, and this being the Netherlands, the means of transport was the bicycle (they went to a place about 30 km away). Here she is, in a pensive mood, while waiting for the ride to start:
