This was the last working week of 2019, and there was also ample time for cycling. And I took some time to walk around the centre of Alicante to look at the decorations and of course do a spot of shopping.<\/p>\n

\nI keep walking past this spot on my little street, and keep taking pictures of it in various types of light, here at dawn:

\nAs part of a campaign against abuse of women by their male partners, a problem much discussed and lamented in Spain, these stickers have appeared on all the rubbish bins in our neighbourhood. The text reads “throw the machismo in here”:

\nOn Sunday I took my mountainbike to ride the V\u00c3\u00ada Verde del Maigm\u00c3\u00b3. On the way to the starting point I passed under the Alicante-Madrid motorway:

\nLater in the week, I was in the centre, at Plaza Seneca, where a small temporary amusement park was being set up:
