Three distinct themes this week: a large meeting we were hosting at the office; an antique car show in the centre of Alicante; and the usual mix of Alicante life.<\/p>\n

\nI continued my habit of occasional visits to the beach to watch the sunrise. I like the emptiness and the autumn clouds at this time of year:

\nIt was a rather windy morning:

\nI spent much of a couple of days in our large meeting room, as we were hosting the plenary meeting of the European Observatory on Infringements of IP Rights:

\nAs we usually do, we hosted a dinner in the evening of the first day of the two-day meeting. A nice opportunity to reconnect with old friends; here is my colleague Blanca, speaking with Peter Hedin from the Swedish patent office:

\nIt was not just food and drink and fun, though. During the pre-dinner cocktail, we made the participants work by having a structured discussion on a pre-determined subject. The discussion would be led by one of the stakeholders and the conclusions, if any, were reported at the meeting the following day:

\nOn Saturday, I went to the centre to see an exhibition of old cars in the gardens of the Diputaci\u00c3\u00b3n (local office of the central government). It was rather small and low-key, but there were some nice pieces, such as this 1955 Ford:

\nI walked around a bit, looking mainly at the details:

\nOn Sunday, we were invited for lunch at a friend’s apartment in a high-rise building near the beach. As usual, everyone brought some food, resulting in a rather impressive spread, both in terms of quantity and quality:
