The main focus of my photography was Semana Santa, which is the subject of a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greatpix.eu\" onclick=\"_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/www.greatpix.eu', 'dedicated gallery']);\" >dedicated gallery<\/a> on one of my other sites. What I show here are snippets of what else took place during the week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main<\/strong><br \/>\nOn Sunday afternoon, I was still in Sierra Nevada (see week 13), waiting for my wife and children to finish skiing. I sat in the lounge of the hotel, worked on my laptop, and from time to time looked out the window:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2009\/14.jpg\" alt=\"L1003572\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nThe alternates<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 1<\/em><br \/>\nOn the way back to Alicante, we stopped for dinner at this truck-stop looking place. The food was inexpensive, delicious and plentiful&#8211;what more can one ask for on the road?:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2009\/14alt1.jpg\" alt=\"L1003576\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then some pictures of members of my team at the office.<\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 2<\/em><br \/>\nWilma:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2009\/14alt2.jpg\" alt=\"L1003582\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday we all went out for lunch to say goodbye to a temp who was leaving us the next day. <\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 3<\/em><br \/>\nDuring the meal, a Dutch girl, Nathalie was showing off the sonograms of the baby she is carrying to another temp, Karin (who is French). Besides the fact that Karin is quite a stunning woman, I really liked the interaction between the two:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2009\/14alt3.jpg\" alt=\"L1003591\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 4<\/em><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2009\/14alt4.jpg\" alt=\"L1003592\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 5<\/em><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2009\/14alt5.jpg\" alt=\"L1003593\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then three pictures from home.<\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 6<\/em><br \/>\nAnother glorious sunset over the golf course:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2009\/14alt6.jpg\" alt=\"L1003604\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 7<\/em><br \/>\nOne of the standard suggestions in photography is that when one is confronted by a beautiful sunset, it is always a good idea to turn around and see what the rays of the setting sun are illuminating. Even a crane and a building under construction begin to look attractive:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2009\/14alt7.jpg\" alt=\"L1003599\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 8<\/em><br \/>\nFriday afternoon we had a torrential downpour, fortunately only lasting about an hour:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2009\/14alt8.jpg\" alt=\"L1003710\" \/><\/p>\n<p>By Saturday things were back to normal, and I took a walk along the beach. I happened upon a game of volleyball but played according to soccer rules, i.e. no hands allowed.<\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 9<\/em><br \/>\nThe ball is served by kicking it from a makeshift tee:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2009\/14alt9.jpg\" alt=\"L1003717\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 10<\/em><br \/>\nThe players pass the ball to each other, or across the net, by heading:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2009\/14alt10.jpg\" alt=\"L1003721\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 11<\/em><br \/>\n&#8230;of by kicking, of course:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2009\/14alt11.jpg\" alt=\"L1003725\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A somewhat mixed bag this week, arranged chronologically.
