We had the usual traditional food, including <em>pulpo a la gallega<\/em> for appetiser:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2017\/31_2.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3702\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>31_3<\/strong><br \/>\nAnd then the main dish, <em>paella de mariscos<\/em>:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2017\/31_3.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3706\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>31_4<\/strong><br \/>\nIt is nice to eat outside on a warm afternoon in the shade. But it also means that you get visitors:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2017\/31_4.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3704\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>31_5<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2017\/31_5.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3700\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>31_6<\/strong><br \/>\nThe birdies got really brave at the neighbouring table:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2017\/31_6.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3707\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>31_7<\/strong><br \/>\nLater in the week, another pre-vacation lunch with a group of people from the office:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2017\/31_7.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3713\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>31_8<\/strong><br \/>\nA very different group of people&#8211;some teenagers on Plaza Seneca in the centre of Alicante, enjoying what used to be the bus station but is now an urban park:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2017\/31_8.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3708\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>31_9<\/strong><br \/>\nOn Friday I had to take my car to the Toyota dealer for an airbag-related recall. While waiting, I took a walk in the neighbourhood and decided to have a look at this place, Rastro de la Esperanza (loosely translated as &#8220;flea market of hope&#8221;). It is a Christian charity that helps drug addicts by providing them jobs related to refurbishing and selling second-hand furniture and other second-hand merchandise:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2017\/31_9.jpg\" alt=\"R002337\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>31_10<\/strong><br \/>\nThe main hall&#8211;I did not realise it was that big:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2017\/31_10.jpg\" alt=\"R002334\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>31_11<\/strong><br \/>\nThe soft power of Goofy:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2017\/31_11.jpg\" alt=\"R002332\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>31_12<\/strong><br \/>\nThe remaining images are from my cycling routes. This is a reservoir near Busot. The water level is quite low, reflecting the dry summer:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2017\/31_12.jpg\" alt=\"R002340\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>31_13<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2017\/31_13.jpg\" alt=\"R002341\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>31_14<\/strong><br \/>\nMy bike parked at the side of the road while I took the previous two photos:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2017\/31_14.jpg\" alt=\"R002342\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>31_15<\/strong><br \/>\nThis and the next two photos are places which I pass often during my bike rides and which continue to fascinate me visually. This is an abandoned casino south of Benidorm:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2017\/31_15.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3718\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>31_16<\/strong><br \/>\nThe fence has seen better days, too:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2017\/31_16.jpg\" alt=\"DSF3716\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>31_17<\/strong><br \/>\nThis is a place I pass almost every day. Someone has put out these two chairs, presumably to sit on and look at the world.
