As usual, after checking in at the hotel, I went out in search of dinner. At a street corner near Schuman, I noticed some funny-looking additions to the urban landscape:

11_15
I went over to have a closer look:

11_16
But then it was time to go for dinner, this time at an Italian restaurant called La Brace, where excellent pizza and pasta are on the menu, and there was even musical entertainment. It was funny to hear “Sultans of Swing” and similar tunes played on two acoustic guitars:

11_17
My meeting was a few minutes walk from the hotel, and it started only at 10 a.m., so I had ample time for a long morning walk. The familiar façade of Berlaymont was displaying a huge banner celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, the founding document for what later became the European Union:

11_18
I see this building on a regular basis, but I continue to explore it visually, always trying for different angles:

11_19
A common sight here; two women walking with a suitcase, in the direction of the bus stop where one picks up the express bus to the airport:

11_20
I went back to the installation I had noticed the night before to explore the sculptures by day light:

11_21
The sign explains the background:

11_22
Funny face:

11_23
Another funny face:

11_24
The bases had inscriptions in various languages, here German:

11_25
And of course, Friday was St Patrick’s Day:

11_26

11_27
On a more serious note, I came across this fence on Rue de la Loi. A year ago, on 22 March 2016, there were coordinated terrorist attacks at Brussels airport and at the nearby Maelbeek metro station, killing 32 people and injuring hundreds. Now, on the first anniversary, a memorial was about to be unveiled in a few days:

11_28
Still all wrapped up.
