On Tuesday I left for Poland to spend the holidays with my sister there, and the pictures from that trip will end up in a separate gallery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main<\/strong><br \/>\nMonday afternoon I went to do some last-minute shopping at the local Carrefour:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/52.jpg\" alt=\"L1000328\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nThe alternates<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 1<\/em><br \/>\nSunday afternoon I went to the Barrio to walk around a bit:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/52alt1.jpg\" alt=\"L1000266\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 2<\/em><br \/>\nOn one of the squares there was a medieval market going on, a typical Spanish event at Christmas time. Basically, it is food and various arts and crafts, sold by people in more or less medieval-looking attire:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/52alt2.jpg\" alt=\"L1000273\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 3<\/em><br \/>\nThis artist attracted considerable interest:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/52alt3.jpg\" alt=\"L1000277\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 4<\/em><br \/>\n&#8230;from me as well:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/52alt4.jpg\" alt=\"L1000278\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 5<\/em><br \/>\nWalking on the Esplanada de Espa\u00c3\u0192\u00c2\u00b1a, I saw the timeless, universal sight of a toy vendor and a little boy tugging at his mother:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/52alt5.jpg\" alt=\"L1000290\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 6<\/em><br \/>\nSunday evening I went to Linda&#8217;s Bar in El Campello to watch the Arsenal-Liverpool game:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/52alt6.jpg\" alt=\"L1000309\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 7<\/em><br \/>\nThis is Linda, with a somewhat concerned expression, on hearing that in one of the other games her team, Tottenham, were losing:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/52alt7.jpg\" alt=\"L1000306\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 8<\/em><br \/>\nIt had been a pretty nice day, so the African DVD vendors had done some business on the nearby beach.
