This time the daughter of the owner of the bodega that presented its wines also mounted a photo exhibition at our office. Here are two of my colleagues looking at the pictures:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/19.jpg\" alt=\"5072270\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nThe alternates<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 1<\/em><br \/>\nLast week I showed a dog wash at a petrol station. But our dog gets her bath together with one of us:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/19alt1.jpg\" alt=\"5092301\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 2<\/em><br \/>\nCheeta likes to be lathered and massaged:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/19alt2.jpg\" alt=\"5092298\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 3<\/em><br \/>\nSaturday morning I went for a walk downtown to see a photo exhibition and do some of my own image hunting. Here is a little girl who evidently knows where she wants to go:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/19alt3.jpg\" alt=\"5102310\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 4<\/em><br \/>\nAnti-racist graffiti left over from May Day. The text says, &#8220;Native or foreign, same working class&#8221;:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/19alt4.jpg\" alt=\"5102307\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 5<\/em><br \/>\nWhile I walk my dog, I sometimes stop to refuel at one of the many local bars. Cheeta does not like those interruptions:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/19alt5.jpg\" alt=\"5062253\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 6<\/em><br \/>\nHere is another local bar&#8211;clearly it has seen better days:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/19alt6.jpg\" alt=\"5042251\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 7<\/em><br \/>\nEvery lock in Spain seems to be plastered with little adverts for emergency locksmith services, even this one which is obviously never going to need such service:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/19alt7.jpg\" alt=\"5112324\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 8<\/em><br \/>\nDuring our walks, Cheeta and I are often confronted with fierce guardians of the houses we pass:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/19alt8.jpg\" alt=\"5112321\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The last three images are from this weekend, which has been somewhat spoiled by spells of rain&#8211;our first precipitation since February. While I wish it did not rain during a long weekend such as this one, it does provide some photo opportunities, and more importantly, it is sorely needed to alleviate the water crisis faced by some parts of Spain.<\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 9<\/em><br \/>\nBecause this area is so dry, nobody thinks much about drainage when constructing parking lots or roads. As a result, when it rains for more than an hour, water accumulates:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/19alt9.jpg\" alt=\"5092284\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 10<\/em><br \/>\nNo bathers on the beach this morning:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/19alt10.jpg\" alt=\"5092285\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 11<\/em><br \/>\nBut the sun always reappears, here on my roof terrace:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/19alt11.jpg\" alt=\"5092279\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week there were no trips, just life around here.
