As always, I looked for details big and small. Outside El Corte Ingl\u00c3\u00a9s:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_2.jpg\" alt=\"L1011947\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_3<\/strong><br \/>\nForgotten doll on Avenida Maisonnave:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_3.jpg\" alt=\"L1011949\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_4<\/strong><br \/>\nJumping castle, ready for action on Plaza Seneca. Notice the spelling of &#8220;The Simpsons&#8221;. The Spanish do not like too many consonants next to each other:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_4.jpg\" alt=\"L1011950\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_5<\/strong><br \/>\nOn December 24, after my morning bicycle ride, I drove the 420 km to Barajas airport in Madrid, where my son was arriving from Buffalo via Detroit and Amsterdam (funny routing courtesy Delta). This is the happy moment when he emerges in the arrivals area of Terminal 2:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_5.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5394\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_6<\/strong><br \/>\nMoses had not been at home since August 2013, so he had not seen the pets for almost 1 1\/2 year, a long of time in doggie and kitty years. So about 4 hours after the preceding picture was taken, these happy scenes were played out in our home in Alicante:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_6.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5396\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_7<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_7.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5401\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_8<\/strong><br \/>\nAnd a little bit later, we sat down to celebrate Christmas Eve:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_8.jpg\" alt=\"R000934\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_9<\/strong><br \/>\nCheeta, too:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_9.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5410\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_10<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_10.jpg\" alt=\"R000936\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_11<\/strong><br \/>\nOne of the things Moses brought me was a 28mm Voigtlander Ultron lens, bought from Stephen Gandy in California who now only ships Cosina\/Voigtlander products within the US. So on Christmas morning, when walking Cheeta, I tested the lens on both my Fuji X-T1:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_11.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5418\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_12<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8230;and on the Leica M8:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_12.jpg\" alt=\"L1011956\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_13<\/strong><br \/>\nAfterwards, we sat down to our Christmas breakfast:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_13.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5420\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_14<\/strong><br \/>\nAfter breakfast, Moses and Monica prepared for the gift distribution. They are now adults, 25 and 20 years old, but on this morning they were children again:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_14.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5432\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_15<\/strong><br \/>\nCheeta with antlers, somewhat worn out:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_15.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5438\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_16<\/strong><br \/>\nSmall package:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_16.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5448\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_17<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_17.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5450\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_18<\/strong><br \/>\nMoses does not know it yet, but the package he is opening contains three good Cuban cigars and a small cigar carrying case into which I had inserted an amount of money equivalent to half of his airfare to come over here:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_18.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5452\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_19<\/strong><br \/>\nMonica got a new wallet:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_19.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5454\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_20<\/strong><br \/>\nSomething her brother said made Monica laugh heartily:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_20.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5455\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_21<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_21.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5456\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_22<\/strong><br \/>\nMonica&#8217;s new wallet was not empty either:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_22.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5457\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_23<\/strong><br \/>\nA bottle of Luis Felipe, the best Spanish brandy there is:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_23.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5459\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_24<\/strong><br \/>\nThe gifts have been distributed, and we all pose for the official Wajsman Christmas portrait:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_24.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5472\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_25<\/strong><br \/>\nBefore lunch, I went out on my bicycle, as I have done every day during this vacation. The main street of Aig\u00c3\u00bces was totally deserted. Even the bars were closed:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_25.jpg\" alt=\"R000940\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_26<\/strong><br \/>\nAnother thing Moses brought with him was a gingerbread house kit. In the afternoon of Christmas Day, the two of them sat down and built the house:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_26.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5487\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_27<\/strong><br \/>\nThe finished product:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_27.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5507\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_28<\/strong><br \/>\nOur Christmas dinner was turkey, with Moses doing the honours:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_28.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5502\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_29<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_29.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5511\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_30<\/strong><br \/>\nThe dinner table. Everything except the turkey itself was vegan, so Monica did not feel cheated:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/52_30.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5512\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>52_31<\/strong><br \/>\nOn Boxing Day, we went to the Mercado Central to buy some fish and generally just to get out a bit.
