Not only did it rain for the first time this year (although not much), it was cloudy for a couple of days, and a steady wind was blowing from the Mediterranean. On Thursday I drove down to a beach near my office to have a look, and the first 3 images are the result.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main<\/strong><br \/>\nThe wind is blowing sand and salt onto the beach. In the distance the Arenales del Sol subdivision:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/7.jpg\" alt=\"2140486\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nThe alternates<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 1<\/em><br \/>\nLooking the other way, towards Alicante:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/7alt1.jpg\" alt=\"2140494\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 2<\/em><br \/>\nGarbage bag:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/7alt2.jpg\" alt=\"2140485\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The last two alternates are from Sunday, when I was completing the drive from the Netherlands to Spain in my wife&#8217;s car. <\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 3<\/em><br \/>\nFirst stop after crossing the French\/Spanish border. Abandoned farm houses:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2008\/7alt3.jpg\" alt=\"2140471\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 4<\/em><br \/>\nSeveral hours later, I am approaching Alicante.
