{"id":1160,"date":"2014-03-10T06:55:21","date_gmt":"2014-03-10T05:55:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fotocycle.dk\/paws\/?page_id=1160"},"modified":"2014-03-10T06:55:21","modified_gmt":"2014-03-10T05:55:21","slug":"week-10-beach-liege-and-masstricht","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.fotocycle.dk\/paws\/?page_id=1160","title":{"rendered":"Week 10: beach; Liege and Masstricht"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week&#8217;s pictures are partly from around my home and my bicycle rides, and partly from a trip to Maastricht Thursday and Friday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10_1<\/strong><br \/>\nReturning from my ride on Sunday, I was stopped by this sight in El Campello:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/10_1.jpg\" alt=\"_1010603\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>10_2<\/strong><br \/>\nIt took just a couple of minutes for the herder and the dog to get the flock safely across:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/10_2.jpg\" alt=\"_1010605\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>10_3<\/strong><br \/>\nThat same afternoon, I took a walk along the beach. There were a few people out and about, mostly on the promenade, but some did venture to the water&#8217;s edge:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/10_3.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5948\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>10_4<\/strong><br \/>\nThe water is certainly warm enough to dip your toes (by Northern European standards it would be warm enough to swim, but this is Spain and the standards are different here):<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/10_4.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5950\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>10_5<\/strong><br \/>\nA couple relaxes while their offspring plays:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/10_5.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5949\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>10_6<\/strong><br \/>\nBack to the drama in our swimming pool. The duck couple has been joined by another male. The two males discuss matters while the female looks on:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/10_6.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5956\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>10_7<\/strong><br \/>\nThen Cheeta comes and interrupts the <em>m\u00c3\u00a9nage \u00c3\u00a0 trois<\/em>:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/10_7.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5957\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday morning I flew to Brussels where I had meetings during the afternoon. In the evening I took a train to Maastricht where I was going to attend a two-day seminar Thursday and Friday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10_8<\/strong><br \/>\nI had to change trains at Li\u00c3\u00a8ge. During the voyage from Brussels to Li\u00c3\u00a8ge there was a bomb threat at the Li\u00c3\u00a8ge station, so our train was halted in the middle of nowhere for about 45 minutes until the all clear was given. As a result, I missed my connection to Maastricht and had to wait about 1\/2 hour for the next one. But there is always a silver lining; in this case, I had the opportunity to explore the quite striking architecture of the station:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/10_8.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5961\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>10_9<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/10_9.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5962\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>10_10<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/10_10.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5964\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>10_11<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/10_11.jpg\" alt=\"DSF5965\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>10_12<\/strong><br \/>\nThursday morning, a walk around Maastricht. This is one of my favourite pieces of public art:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2014\/10_12.jpg\" alt=\"DSF6002\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>10_13<\/strong><br \/>\nThursday night, at a reception.
