{"id":116,"date":"2007-12-25T10:15:18","date_gmt":"2007-12-25T09:15:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fotocycle.dk:80\/paws\/?page_id=116"},"modified":"2007-12-25T10:15:18","modified_gmt":"2007-12-25T09:15:18","slug":"week-51-tapas","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.fotocycle.dk\/paws\/?page_id=116","title":{"rendered":"Week 51: Tapas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The office where I work is closed between Christmas and New Year, so last week was marked by more end-of-year celebrations. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Main<\/strong><br \/>\nBut I start off with another winter sunrise on the beach:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/51.jpg\" alt=\"C181792\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nThe alternates<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>The alternates are all from an evening out on Friday night, when I went to a tapas restaurant in the centre of Alicante with some of my new colleagues and my son who had just flown in from England the day before. <\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 1<\/em><br \/>\nAlicante has a Rambla too:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/51alt1.jpg\" alt=\"C211811\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 2<\/em><br \/>\nThe restaurant we went to has a very simple system&#8211;the waiters walk around with trays of tapas, and if you want one, you take one. The bill at the end is based on the number of toothpics on your plate. Obviously, this system is predicated on the guests being honest but since the food is good and the prices low, there is little incentive to cheat:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/51alt2.jpg\" alt=\"C211826\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 3<\/em><br \/>\nThis sign says roughly that the waiters and waitresses are available for take-away but the restaurant does not guarantee their performance outside the premises and no refunds are possible:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/51alt3.jpg\" alt=\"C211832\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 4<\/em><br \/>\nHere is one hard-working and animated waitress:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/51alt4.jpg\" alt=\"C211834\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 5<\/em><br \/>\nHere she is, serving tapas while engaged in conversation:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/51alt5.jpg\" alt=\"C211852\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 6<\/em><br \/>\nI liked the sight of this guy, also in a very animated conversation:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/51alt6.jpg\" alt=\"C211853\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 7<\/em><br \/>\nBack outside on the street, I spotted this lucky guy:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/51alt7.jpg\" alt=\"C211856\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 8<\/em><br \/>\nFurther inspection revealed that he was indeed one lucky guy:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/51alt8.jpg\" alt=\"C211857\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The office where I work is closed between Christmas and New Year, so last week was marked by more end-of-year celebrations.
