It almost made me feel like I was back in the Netherlands, except that it was warmer and the rain did not last more than one evening. But I start off with a few images from Albufereta beach, taken early Saturday morning. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Main<\/strong><br \/>\nSurf, sand and stone:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/47.jpg\" alt=\"3910\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nThe alternates<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 1<\/em><br \/>\nSame scene as the main image:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/47alt1.jpg\" alt=\"3908\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 2<\/em><br \/>\nSand and surf:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/47alt2.jpg\" alt=\"3907\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 3<\/em><br \/>\nThe only presence on the beach this morning:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/47alt3.jpg\" alt=\"3904\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The next two alternates are from a rare rainy evening, both taken near Puerta del Mar in the centre of Alicante.<\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 4<\/em><br \/>\nUmbrellas are a rare sight here:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/47alt4.jpg\" alt=\"3895\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 5<\/em><br \/>\nOne of my favourite watering holes&#8211;but no sitting outside tonight:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/47alt5.jpg\" alt=\"3898\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The remaining images are from an area south of Alicante, called Arenales del Sol. It is basically a bunch of mainly apartment buildings and is a British enclave. Not very interesting, except that I was looking for a bar where I could watch the Liverpool-Newcastle game. <\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 6<\/em><br \/>\nView of Alicante across a stormy bay:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/47alt6.jpg\" alt=\"3931\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 7<\/em><br \/>\nBut a windy day is good for some people:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/47alt7.jpg\" alt=\"3928\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 8<\/em><br \/>\nI found my bar. The beer was good, the Liverpool game was on, and the landlady was friendly:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"uploads\/2007\/47alt8.jpg\" alt=\"3932\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Alternate 9<\/em><br \/>\nShe also had a sense of humour.
