So we knew that it would be a busy day and therefore took some time out of her studying to rent bikes and cycle the Cardiff Bay Trail, a nice little 10 km loop around the bay:

36_2
The weather was good and all kinds of creatures were taking advantage of it:

36_3
Monday morning, while Monica was doing the walk-through of the house with the company that manages it, I drove to the self-storage place where she had left her things over the summer. On the way, I amused myself by looking at my neighbours on the road:

36_4
Monica and her new housemates on Kincraig Street, where she will live the coming year:

36_5
Kincraig Street is a side street to City Road, the main thoroughfare of a very multi-ethnic neighbourhood with just the right amount of grittiness. Right on the corner is a facility which I certainly intend to frequent during future visits:

36_6
The standard sign indicating a proper watering hole:

36_7
Once Monica’s things were in the house, we went for lunch at one of the many restaurants on City Road, Milgi. It is an absolutely wonderful vegetarian restaurant:

36_8
Milgi is a feast for the eyes as well:

36_9
Monday evening I flew home to Alicante, to my familiar surroundings. But now my company consists of my wife and Cheeta (we also have a cat, but he comes and goes as he likes):

36_10
The rest of the week was consumed by work and I don’t think I took a single picture. But then Saturday arrived, and after a morning bike ride, my wife and I went to the Mercado Central to buy a few things, especially fresh cilantro and other herbs. To get to the veggie section you have to walk through the fish section, always a good source for photos:

36_11
Afterwards, we went to a health food store in the Calle Ángel Lozano. While we were there, the first rain in a couple of months began to fall. I photographed this couple on an otherwise almost empty street:

36_12
Then I photographed the STOP sign on the bike path:

36_13
And then I noticed that the couple, as if they were obeying the sign, had indeed stopped to embrace:

36_14
In the evening, we went to a wine tasting at a wine shop in the beach town of El Campello, just north of us. While taking a break outside for some fresh air, I saw this:

36_15
The I quickly walked down to the beach promenade to have a look at El Campello harbour illuminated by the setting sun:

36_16
And the sky over the paseo was on fire:

36_17
We finished the evening with dinner at our usual tapas place, Los Charros. There were a couple of new faces among the staff, including this very animated and photogenic guy:

36_18
And this is why I like Los Charros.
